CLOUD-1: Should Sanctum implement CLOUD staking and active staking rewards?

The Cloud-1 proposal presents a well-structured approach to introducing CLOUD staking and active staking rewards (ASR), aligning governance incentives with long-term participation and meaningful decision-making.

Rewarding governance participation through active staking rewards is a solid way to encourage engagement without distorting incentives. Tying ASR to both stake duration and participation ensures that governance remains both inclusive and productive.

Overall, this proposal is a strong step forward for Sanctum governance, balancing long-term alignment, participation incentives, and system integrity. Looking forward to seeing how this evolves! :rocket:

agreed that 30m for 6 months is too low - i feel sanctum needs to make some serious noise here with their first couple of ASRs to get people excited. Attention is a big thing in this space!

Looks interesting and very different from JUP ASR, looking forward to learning the new process here.

@fplee please reconsider reverting back to the 50M for 6 months. @Riceracc00n and I are both top 0.1% stakers in JUP. We both didn’t receive an allocation for the original Jupuary. We both accumulated decent sized stakes because we were attracted to the ASR yields. I was at catstanbul waiting for you to speak in the passion section, but unfortunately things didn’t run according to schedule. The reason I’m mentioning catstanbul is that a year ago I had zero JUP, slowly got involved with the community and grew my stake and was fortunate enough to receive a subsidy to attend an amazing event. I want Sanctum to have a flourishing community like Jup. It will take time, but I believe bringing Eno’s energy to the team was a great move. For ASR yield’s we all know that it will decrease as every vote passes if the community is successful… Let the early stakers eat and market this to our networks and CT… food for thought. The pie is big… let’s grow it!

Thanks for the kind words!

Jupiter’s ASR is 50M out of 10B, ours is 30M out of 1B, so our ASR is actually 6x more generous than Jupiter’s.

7B vs 1B… I agree the tokenomics are much better here, but the issue is that most people don’t look at the entire picture when it comes to tokenomics… It actually boggles my mind and makes me want to hit my head against a wall… From what I can see, I believe that $CLOUD is criminally undervalued.

wouldn’t it be more accurate to say that ours is 15M out of 1B based on the quarterly timeframe?

I think people will compare to Jup ASR at first. As should also be next week too. Im talking about token price and that 50M.
We need people realize how good this governance is, as I think we need more Jup users involved here.

If we can also link futarchy with wonderland will be massive. Give us some leaks next call as more than 13k people wanted know something about s2

I voted! Both votes down! Many more to come!

futarchy approach is new, we need to make sure that holders are onboard and engaging in votes, we need to make sure we don’t over reward and saturate the market if only a relative few are doing so

Also the team can track the staking deposits, if theres deemed a potential need to increase rewards a amendment proposal can be brought foward

No answer at all??
When we will be able to vote?

Are there any thoughts for a burning mechanism for a part of penalties f.e. 15%?

Voting for Cloud-1 is now live @ioannis1804 :cloud: !

Just my two cents, but I see a lot of people voting with less than 10 USDC (or its equivalent in CLOUD if voted “lower”). That’s OK for now since CLOUD-0 and CLOUD-1 don’t count for the future ASR, but if this proposal passes, as it seems it will, some people might get an unpleasant surprise in the form of their participation not being accounted for if you keep putting in less than 10 USDC. Just saying.

I am always a huge proponent of community building / sufficient locked staking in things I believe in.

I think this proposal (post adjustment) will be a good step towards really being able to see who’s not only here for ASR but also who really wants the best for the future of the protocol- 60 days unstaking is nothing to sneeze at after all.

I will bring another question / proposition to the forum in a few for discussion after I confirm that the question hasn’t already been brought up. Very much looking forward to the future of Sanctum DAO!

Staking CLOUD does not seem like a good idea to me. This will only lead to inflation for holders, force them to vote, and lock their CLOUDs. Voting should not be mandatory, even though it is a good way to stay informed about the different directions the project may take. However, a person holding CLOUD will be penalized if they cannot vote on certain proposals. If they are unable to vote, they will be diluted.

Hi najeal, if C-1 passes then we’ll need to stake CLOUD in order to participate in ASR, not voting itself. Using staked CLOUD to participate in voting will only come at a later stage. Also, one can always stake half of CLOUD and keep the other half to be used in other DeFi protocols.

I wouldn’t mind slightly more detail just to have a better understanding. Not looking for an essay.:rofl::rofl:
