[Proposal] let coin's creator choose their API

Wouldn’t it be fantastic if token creators had more control over their projects’ success? By allowing them to set their own APYs, we can incentivize innovation and ensure that funds are allocated where they’re needed most.

Token creators could use a dedicated dashboard to set their preferred APY. They can choose to allocate a portion of the total APY to stakers, with the remaining portion retained for project development or other purposes.

Benefits:

  • Increased Creator Autonomy: Token creators can tailor their APY to align with their project’s goals and sustainability.
  • Enhanced Staker Engagement: Stakers can actively contribute to the success of projects they believe in without upfront investment.
  • Diverse Project Support: This system encourages a wider range of projects to join the platform, benefiting the entire community.

Example Scenarios:

  1. Animal NGO: An NGO could set a lower APY to allocate more funds directly towards animal care and rescue efforts.

  1. Gaming Platform: A platform could offer a low APY but stakers would be rewared by the platform token. And the developers would get money to develop their game.

Like this Sanctum LST/Coin Creator could be a free Kickstarter platform, or make “free” donation to NGO.

Sanctum could provide creators with personalized blog pages where they can share updates, progress photos, and financial transparency, fostering trust among stakers.

You actually beat me to the punch, i was just thinking about writing a proposal that was exactly like this! My only suggestion would be that the creator must lock the APY for a certain amount of time as to not bait users into their coin and change the APY straight away. Safeguards must be introduced to protect against any bad actors.
Great proposal, thanks!

Thanks!

Why not a 48hours or 7 days delay before a change of apy is applyed? With email sent to stakers to notify them.

as potential of coin creator 100% support the proposal.
We are indeed willing to give up some revenue to attract users.

My proposal is more the other way around. Where it is users that give up on some of the apy to give it to creators. By doing so, stakers that believe in one’s project could help it even more effortlessly.

Oh, sorry. I probably understand what you mean. Maybe creators and users can adjust this by themselves.

I thought about it too, but I don’t think it is feasible.

Let’s say there is a 7% apy.

The token will take 7% of value every year. But the amount of token in your wallet doesn’t change.

If we change to 3% for holders and 4% for creators, the token will only take 3% of value every year.

But if it let people set it by themselves there will be an issue.
If one want to take 1% and another one want to take 6%. Then how can the value of the token evolved? It has to be the same for everyone.

Or a way to go around, is that the value of the token always stays the same. But you get rewarded by an increase of token.

I look at it from the perspective of my community. We have our own treasury. If there is a mechanism, we put 100sol into it, but the rewards can be distributed to our holders. It will be very helpful to us.
Because in fact we don’t need so many rewards, what we need more is a variety of tools that can help us gather our community.
And we are also willing to give back to our community members.
