sCLOUD incentives for Kamino INF Multiply

Now we’ve seen INF deployed into Kamino’s Multiply product Kamino | Solana Concentrated Liquidity Layer (which is a big deal for an LST on Solana) I think we should redirect CLOUD incentives away from the INF-SOL pair and to pure INF looping and to sCLOUD instead of CLOUD.

There’s a few reasons I would like to see this happen:

  1. INF is the core of what Sanctum does and having more SOL (via the lend loop on Kamino) helps increase Sanctum’s validator to land transactions.
  2. the yield loops of all LSTs on Solana within a pretty tight range so any extra incentives will make INF stand out when you’re sorting the LSTs by APY.
  3. sCLOUD onboards people immediately to CLOUD staking and explains quickly and easily that INF is Sanctum. By itself it’s not immediately clear that INF is Sanctum’s flagship product but the CLOUD brand is much more tightly linked and having both staking products together (sCLOUD and INF) is a great advert for Sanctum as a protocol.

Couple of footnotes

  • I originally supported the CLOUD rewards for the INF-SOL pair but maintained at the time that getting INF into the Multiply loop on Kamino should be the end game
  • INF Multiply already has INF rewards on Kamino (thanks team!)

Well put, and to the point. Linking CLOUD/sCLOUD to INF is a great idea IMO. There have also been suggestions to rebrand INF. But I don’t think that is necessary. Just some coupling.

I think you guys are spot on here. While I really love the names INF and CLOUD for Sanctum’s products, the difference in naming might make it harder for some people to connect them back to Sanctum. Maybe they would expect something more directly tied to the brand, like “SANC”. That could help explain why, in the recent community poll to choose a new Discord tag, “SANC” got 61 votes and “SCTM” got 54, adding up to 115 votes for Sanctum-related names. In contrast, CLOUD-related tags received fewer: 36 for “CLD,” 6 for “CFAM,” 4 for “CLDF,” and 60 for “INF”. Maybe the community has started to question all of that a bit.

I don’t think a rebrand is needed at all, but finding more ways to tie everything together in people’s minds, like some of the suggestions mentioned here, could really help. It’d be a shame if CLOUD didn’t get more love just because it’s not immediately recognized by the general public as Sanctum’s token. Who knows, maybe our friendly CLOUD symbol truly resonates with many, like us, but not so much with others, especially the more conservative ones who might expect a more serious-looking token from a “serious” protocol before investing significant money in it.

Finding ever stronger connections between the INF-CLOUD-SANCTUM triad and new ways to communicate them will continue to help build a more unified identity that everyone can recognize and trust
