CLOUD-003: Should Sanctum use up to 2.5M CLOUD to incentivise INF-SOL liquidity via Kamino Vaults? [PASSED]

I am not sure this has a positive effect as on the other side, we risk to have liquidity providers selling CLOUDs they get.
On the other side, if there is a positive effect, it could just be temporary.

Related to this proposal, but not exactly ā€œitā€, I feel like despite being a great token, $INF isnā€™t promoted enough. In my opinion, the Marketing Team should be putting out the word everywhere. $CLOUD is mentioned way more often than $INF.

I guess what Iā€™m trying to say is that it doesnā€™t really matter how good your product is - without good marketing, weā€™re not gonna get much adoption.

I think it was a good idea not to Market LSTs over the past 9 months because of Meme Mania hitting its peak. Anything we could have said would have been lost. I think now is a prime time to market LSTs, since everyone is looking for stable investments, and earning some return (staking), but also doesnt want to be locked in for 30-day like jupiter.

So I believe if the LP is part of a larger Marketing Strategy, then LFG!

I like this proposal too.

I fully support this proposal because deepening INF-SOL liquidity is crucial for INFā€™s long-term success.

Right now, the shallow liquidity makes it harder for large players to enter and exit efficiently. Using Kamino Vaults is a smart approach since most LPs prefer automated strategies, and the proposed incentives make it even more attractive.

Personally, I think this could be a game-changer for INF, strengthening its position as Solanaā€™s liquidity hub while benefiting the entire ecosystem. Excited to see how this plays out!

Yeah! Totally agree with that.

Kind of regret not having replied during the actual discussion phase, but was taking a semi-hiatus. Maybe it could help some people on the fence of the vote.

In any case, for what itā€™s worth, hereā€™s my two cents after reviewing the entire discussion:

  1. For many, many people here, I believe they have a ā€¦ CLOUDed judgment (I am so, so sorry.) Plain and simple, with the current price action of $CLOUD and across the entire market, the questions/comments ā€œhow will this affect/protect our bags?ā€ and ā€œoh no Iā€™m getting diluted.ā€ are the single largest driving factors for some (with decently good reason).

That being said, itā€™s time to take a look at the bigger, long term picture.
INF (as far as Iā€™ve been aware) is the flagship Sanctum product. $CLOUD is technically a token representation of how Sanctum is perceived as a company, and it stands to reason that if Sanctum becomes highly adopted and highly valued, $CLOUD will appreciate.

Accordingly, I believe that we should be striving to make INF as strong as possible, and an attempt to strengthen INF-SOL liquidity is good for Sanctum at this point. Comparing liquidity between JitoSOL, mSOL and INF, we haveā€¦ checks notes $2.81M liquidity compared to mSOLā€™s $38.86M and JitoSOLā€™s $2.42BILLION. With Solanaā€™s massive market cap, it seems pretty clear that if we want to evolve into a bigger player, this is one of the necessary steps.

  1. I see concerns about mercenary liquidity. As Iā€™ve expounded in previous discussions/posts in CLOUD-002, mercenary liquidity will ALWAYS exist and and will most likely exist in order to extract farm rewards (in this case, our precious $CLOUD). While it sounds undesirable for $CLOUD holders (and I do think it is), I also think once again that this is a necessary evil. After all, a portion of $CLOUD was retained by the Sanctum team in order to allow for these kind of moves, to try and grow the protocol. After all, IIRC I believe JitoSOL uses their JTO in order to incentivize in the same way.

Now, do I think that the timing of this could be better? Maybe, maybe not. As some others have said, a lot of long-term investors are looking for somewhat more stable LP / assets; INF being an outperformer means that if launched on Kamino, investorsā€™ SOL returns appreciate faster than in mSOL/JitoSOL, but because of its comparatively low liquidity, it generally flies under the radar when people are looking to make big moves. Pulling people with higher APR on Kamino could lead to more people opening their eyes to INFā€™s potential, and actually converting from mercenary into relatively sticky Liquidity in the long run as overall APR/return is better. (rose tinted glasses, but it is a possibility).

Also, I donā€™t think I saw it mentioned, but choice of liquidity platform matters. As Iā€™ve stated previously, itā€™s my personal belief that incentives like these are best used as marketing tools. Kamino is the right call to get eyes on, but having the qualifying pools set up on Meteora may help to multiply the effect of gathering interested parties (though at the cost of attracting max extraction airdrop farmers).

End of the day, I know Iā€™ll be trying to vote for the proposal to pass, because even if it may not be good for my $sCLOUD in the short term, I think itā€™s a sound proposal that can help Sanctum grow as a whole.

I agree with the proposal. My only concern would be a likelihood of a drop in the poolā€™s TVL when the incentives end.

I agree with the purpose of the DAOā€™s proposal; the incentives will bring visibility to our LSTs. Additionally, these incentives provide an advantage for the overall cloud LSTs.

I read your reply word for word - I :cloud: your take!

Any idea if the JTO jito used to incentivize their pool was community or team or a split? And how much & how long they incentivized for? I am not familiar with em but Iā€™m likely gonna do some digging after this

I also think that if we donā€™t experiment here (FAFO), we wonā€™t know if something like what is proposed here will work - and after seeing this: " checks notes $2.81M liquidity compared to mSOLā€™s $38.86M and JitoSOLā€™s $2.42BILLION" - definitely need to boost INF liquidity!

And I agree with you about voting for this proposal to pass to help sanctum grow as a whole long term. If it works - we can draft future proposals like doing something on meteora to continue growing - and if it doesnā€™t workā€¦wellā€¦now we know and back to the drawing board! - granted that this proposal passes of course for us to experiment
