We’ve all seen how unstable X has become for all sorts of users.
Aside from the crazy political stuff going on on there, and the insane amount of fraud and bots, we’ve seen a sharp increase in account bans.
Having a paid account doesn’t seem to matter (as we recently witnessed with DRiP).
Not only that there’s an increasing number of reports of insiders exhorting accounts over bans (posts detailing this have been quickly removed by X, further heightening suspicions).
Whilst it’s impossible for a crypto project to forgo X for now, it’s also wise to be building up alternative social platforms as fall-backs.
BlueSky is quickly gaining ground on X and rolling out new features all the times. It’s built in the Fediverse which means you’re able to port your account over to other platfroms if needed. Whilst it’s not as portable or decentralised as a Nostr or Mastodon, it’s also much, much more popular than those two.
Threads is also in the Fediverse, is larger than BlueSky, but doesn’t seem as active. Yet.
I wouldn’t pour as much time into Threads or BlueSky as you do X, but instead just do the update posts across all 3 and keep focusing mostly on X as the main platform.
I want to propose two things
-
Sanctum establish a BlueSky and Threads presence as fall-backs to X.
You can easily manage X, Threads and BlueSky via something like https://fedica.com/ so the overhead is not a lot more than you currently do. -
Sanctum run initial awareness campaigns on both Threads and BlueSky to start the ball rolling on network effects and introduce themselves to the platform audiences. I propose a 30 day campaign in which Sanctum post a series of ‘Getting to know Sanctum, Solana and LSTs’ posts and incentivise community members to support with rewards for helping boost those posts on the platfrom.
I think you should take advantage of the ability you have to rename your accounts on Threads and BlueSky to be a wallet name to reward users (see below).
Also deters the farmers a bit as you need to actually spend a few bucks buying a wallet domain.
