Community-Driven Sanctum / Cloud NFT Collection

UPDATE 22.09.2025

The idea with the NFT collection has changed significantly. A new concept came up - to create a small PFP NFT collection dedicated to Sanctum/Cloud, with no more than ~100 pieces. Thinking about mintable NFT collection without NFT-LST concept as a first stage.

If this is something that interests you, please share your ideas and vision of what you would like to see in these PFPs, and what style would appeal to you.
You can also share examples of artists and artworks you like for inspiration.

UPDATE 19.09.2025
TL;DR: This idea is no longer relevant.

I am not a fan of creating forum posts that lead nowhere, so for the sake of transparency I felt it important to clarify the current stage of this idea.

My proposal was largely built on the assumption that the Sanctum team would be open to minting a significant portion of the supply and then using those NFTs as part of future community rewards. This kind of commitment from the team would have provided additional legitimacy to the collection. However, in order to move forward to the next stage, I needed at least some confirmation from the Sanctum team that they were willing to participate in this way.

From my private conversation with FP, my understanding is that the Sanctum team is currently not ready to engage in this initiative. As a result, I personally will no longer be pursuing it.

The way I saw it, the minting risks would have been the same for everyone — both the team and other participants. In case of failure, each minter could simply redeem their SOL. The only real upfront cost was the artwork and distribution, which I expected to offset with a minting fee.

Most importantly, the supply minted by the team could have acted as a deferred marketing budget — NFTs that Sanctum could later distribute instead of the resources already being spent on giveaways (e.g. USDC rewards for Twitter threads, merchandise). The redeemable nature of these NFTs would give recipients the choice: either keep the NFT or redeem it back into SOL. My thought was that if the collection succeeded, very few would choose to redeem.

At this stage, however, the Sanctum team is not ready to commit to this initiative. Therefore, I don’t see a reason to continue developing it further.

ORIGINAL POST

Hey everyone,

The idea of creating an NFT collection for Sanctum has been on my mind for a while. I’m not sure if this experiment would have clear KPIs or bring measurable value to the project, but personally, I’d love to own such an NFT. Maybe the Sanctum team would also find it interesting.

:bullseye: Concept

Launch an NFT collection associated with Sanctum, but initiated entirely by the community rather than the core team.

  • Community chooses the artists, supply, and mechanics.

  • Use the Pathfinder SOL mechanism to remove any “rug” risks:

    • Mint = 1 SOL.

    • Small mint fee to cover initial costs.

    • SOL gets converted into LST or INF.

  • Participants can always burn their NFT to reclaim their SOL if they want out.

:money_bag: Economics

  • This is not about profit. The collection is for fun.

  • A small minting fee can cover initial costs (artwork, smart contract, distribution).

:package: Distribution

  • Access via whitelists:

    • Cloud stakers.

    • Active voters/participants.

    • A separate whitelist for the Sanctum team (with a larger allocation).

:warning: Risks

  • The project could flop.

  • Buyers don’t really risk their funds, since they can always burn the NFT and get back their SOL.

  • Someone has to front the initial funding for setup (art + contract), so risks exist in covering that initial investment.

  • Open question: how would this reflect on the Sanctum brand — positively or negatively?

:white_check_mark: Goal

The main goal is not to make money but to create a fun, community-driven collection that strengthens engagement and adds a playful layer to the Sanctum ecosystem.

I also doubt the Sanctum team would go for such an experiment as an official NFT project or see much value in community-created NFTs. But if we as a community do see value — we can try to make it happen ourselves.

:pushpin: Question to the community & team:

  • Community - Do you like this idea?

  • Community - Should we try such an experiment?

  • Would the team be open to a community-led NFT collection like this?

Hey pbear! Awesome that you’re also into the idea of Sanctum NFTs! I agree that art brings a lot of value to a brand, especially to one like Sanctum, which has invested so much in it through Wonderland and all the incredible designs the team has created.

I actually proposed something along these lines last year, and we’ve been experimenting and putting it into practice for a while now, it’s already well in motion  The initial proposal was this one: Sanctum NFT Collection.

I used Tiplink to mint the Nexus POAP NFTs (super cheap for users), and now I’ve been using DRiP to grow the collection. Check it out: Sanctum Spectrum DRiP Collection. On DRiP, common mints cost only 1 cent, so they’re unruggable in that sense hehe. That said, I agree, using the Pathfinders Lilypad system in the future would be amazing too!

I’ve also shared some fresh ideas about this in the ASR has ended - what’s next? thread, where I summarized the journey so far and suggested a few ideas for the future.

Hope you like the progress so far! I’ve seen you more on TG and here, but definitely join us on Discord, that’s also where most of the engagement surrounding the art activities take place. Will be great to have you along in this.
Cheers!

Hey, Lucio!
Thanks for your input. You are doing so much work with NFTs. That’s insane.

try and put my thoughts into some sort of sense

having been a big advocate for NFTs and the Potential Utility they can offer

It maybe a sweeping over generalization but many just don’t deliver, to do so the projects have to constantly deliver, something that’s generally not possible eventually without re-funding either through new mints or issuing a token (or both) the funds just simply dry up

Pathfinders is a a interesting one, but essentially its a money back game of sorts (maybe be over simplification on my part) , which for “investors” doesn’t really appeal (which makes just holding a LST a more viable option personally)

(a little biased maybe as I don’t particularly like the pathfinders art, not to say it bad personally much prefer the hand-drawn previews than the actual finished versions)

So $$ minted NFTs are still a risk currently, many still rug or we just don’t see a return on our initial purchase cost (we can all be as earnest as we like, but none of us are here to loose money)

so much so, having held & traded 100s and 100s, (probably burned as many truth be told) in the past right back to the start really in late ‘20 now I very rarely enter the NFT market any longer, barr a few dr!p collections, but even that’s loosing its appeal as filled with so much bad art its hard to find the time or inclination to explore

Having said that, I do find (whilst not new in principle (Pretty sure Orca? did it for pool positions) Meteora’s TGE drop for Jup Stakers will come in the form of a NFT that holds the airdrop position, and burned on redemption/sale.

Something along those lines could be worked on for any future seasons of Wonderland, server roles could possibly play a part in guaranteeing a rarity level, things like the longer you hold your burnable airdrop postion NFT, the more “Pet” Nfts you gain over time which could then be trade-able for the collectors out there
