ASR has ended -- what's next?

From what I’ve seen here in the forum and other Sanctum platforms, it’s almost unanimous that the community still wants to receive CLOUD rewards for staking, even if future ROI is smaller than in the first two distributions. I do agree it would be great for active community members to keep earning CLOUD, since accumulating and holding it remains one of the clearest signals of alignment and Earnestness.

At the same time, the Sanctum Loyalty Layer proposed by FP feels like a strong and welcome idea. It could serve as a long-term loyalty program, extending into future Wonderland Seasons and beyond. Ideally, it could launch soon, retroactively recognizing staking scores from after ASR ended, and then continue evolving over time. This would reassure people that their scores still matter while also attracting new stakers. Either way, those who are truly aligned and committed for the long run will have no reason to unstake.

While reflecting on this proposal, I had a lot of thoughts about alignment, which led me to write this post: Sanctum Cloudholder: A Stable Crypto Horizon.

The Loyalty Layer could help deepen the relationship between the Sanctum Team and the community, shedding light on the roles the community will play in shaping the protocol’s future and how individual contributions (like the Earnestness metrics from Wonderland S1) will be recognized going forward, or even retroactively, since Wonderland ended.

Recent initiatives, like the evolving Discord roles, are already a strong first step toward setting these parameters. The same goes for tracking engagement on X, contributions here in Research, and more. This direction strengthens the path for properly identifying, tracking, and rewarding all the Ambassadors who spread the Sanctum message. Thinking about the Loyalty Layer naturally raises the exciting question of what exclusive benefits top scorers and contributors might receive, a question the whole community has been invited to help answer.

Seasonal merch drops, for example, would definitely be appreciated by the loyal community members, since unique and rare items can connect with the personal and emotional side of our Sanctum experience.

I’d also love to see this concept amplified through art. This ties back nicely to an idea I first proposed here more than an year ago, in Aug 2024: a Sanctum NFT collection. That proposal gained a lot of traction, reaching the top 3 in our first community test vote with a grant pool of donated funds, which gave me enough CLOUD to move the project forward. Since then, we’ve experimented in many ways, like:

Art creates bonds, unites communities under shared symbols, and deepens our sense of belonging. NFTs can play a big role in this: tied to specific activities, milestones, or monthly distributions for Earnest contributors. Drops could even be tiered, with more special editions reserved for higher scorers. DRiP already gives us this flexibility, letting us fully customize rarity levels and decide exactly who receives which NFTs.

When I first proposed a Sanctum NFT collection, I envisioned two fronts: both official and community-driven. So far, only the community side has taken shape. But the original idea, and all the feedback it received, clearly included Sanctum NFTs with official art as well, such as the Wonderland Pets. CW’s art and designs would be a perfect fit here. Many of these early ideas also imagined potential utility in a future Wonderland season, which makes extending this concept into the Loyalty Layer feel like a natural next step.

The community would really cherish these official NFTs, as they could serve as visual and emotional manifestations of the Loyalty Layer, something to hold onto, proof of recognition as active Sanctum Cloudfam members.

I’d be happy to foster a more official art collection inside Sanctum Spectrum’s DRiP (since it’s already active and allows multiple collections under one main account), or support in any other way. But of course, if the Sanctum Team prefers, they could also create and manage their own standalone collection.

Recently, I had a call with someone from the DRiP team to discuss Spectrum. Since DRiP was just acquired by Jupiter, one of Sanctum’s strongest partners, it feels very natural to pursue an official collection there. They shared valuable insights on how to best use the platform, along with inspiring examples of past collaborations and campaigns, like with Doodles, where an art contest they ran was responsible for the creation of over 2,000 community-created pieces.

Now, imagine a similar campaign for Sanctum. Imagine 2,000 pieces of CLOUD-inspired art being created, shared, and spread across the web. The engagement and visibility would be enormous! We could fine-tune the parameters to best fit Sanctum’s needs, while maybe even trying to ensure artists permissions that would allow us to reuse the resulting art across a wide variety of formats, much like I’ve already been doing with the community-driven Sanctum art.

In many ways, this wouldn’t just be an art campaign, it would also be a CLOUD awareness campaign, one with great tangible results for both Sanctum and CLOUD.

Of course, there’s a cost: $15k. But if we look at the Doodles campaign as a benchmark, it raised 32 million droplets - $32k. These donations come from DRiP users to secure rare mints from the art channel, and the funds are then automatically deposited as USDC into the wallet associated with that DRiP account. That’s more than twice the campaign cost, which makes it seem like a very profitable opportunity on all fronts. Any profits could go back to the Sanctum Team or be used to sponsor the Sanctum Spectrum community art initiative, enabling more contests and activities with a much larger treasury than we’ve had so far, expanding our possibilities and taking us to the next level. I’d love to hear what everyone thinks. Depending on how the conversation here develops, I might spin this off into its own dedicated governance proposal, or talk with the Core Team directly.

Getting back to the Loyalty Layer, art, NFTs, merch, and similar initiatives could become tangible expressions of loyalty, turning staking scores, Earnestness, and community contributions into symbols people can actually hold, collect, and showcase. This not only deepens alignment but also builds pride and identity around being a Cloudholder. Numbers can measure loyalty, culture can celebrate it, and governance can empower it. Together, they make alignment something alive, visible, and enduring. In this way, the Loyalty Layer could become the beating heart of Sanctum’s relationship with its community, where every Cloudholder knows their Earnestness is recognized, their voice matters, and their loyalty shapes the future we’re building together.
