Proposal: LST Selector Tool

Proposal: LST Selector Tool – Find the Right LST for You

With the growing number of liquid staking tokens (LSTs) on the market, it can be overwhelming to figure out which one aligns best with your investment goals. Each LST offers unique benefits, but choosing the right one shouldn’t feel like guesswork.

Introducing the LST Selector Tool (Proposed)

I propose the development of a simple calculator to help users filter through LSTs based on their individual preferences and targets. By plugging in key factors, users can identify the LST that best matches their goals.

Here are the main considerations this tool would focus on:

  • Projects/Brands You Trust
Many people have loyalty to certain brands or teams. The calculator would let you prioritize LSTs from projects you already support or want to align with.

  • Yield APY
Different LSTs offer varying APYs. Based on your risk tolerance and goals, the tool will help you find the one that maximizes yield while fitting your strategy.

  • Type of Yield
Whether you want steady passive income or higher, riskier yields, the tool will categorize LSTs by their reward structures.

  • Validator Success Rate
Track and prioritize LSTs tied to high-performing validators, so you can stake with confidence.

  • Supporting Validator Success
Choose LSTs that align with validators working to improve the Solana ecosystem, supporting both returns and infrastructure.

  • New vs. Established LSTs
Some prefer the security of well-established LSTs, while others look for higher returns in newer projects. The tool will account for both.

Why This Tool Matters

With so many options out there, it’s essential for users to make informed choices when selecting an LST. A dedicated tool like this would streamline the process, helping you focus on what’s important and ensuring that the LST you choose aligns perfectly with your strategy.

Let’s make it easier to navigate the LST landscape. What do you think?

Interesting concept Lochie! As far as I know, we already have “Sort” function in sanctum so people can sort with highest APY etc. But making this tool make a fresh POV on user preference. All in on supporting this

Good idea! I think this could easily be implemented on Sanctum with filter and search functionality, followed by detailed info on the selected LST (perhaps a branded page).

I think this is likely a part of the next release judging by the renders @fplee provided. Maybe we should find out if this functionality will be included?

I am also working on a browser extension (already on Chrome Extension Store) with this type of search and filter functionality. Check it out here: https://airdropbird.com/blockbird

Interesting ! Could be nice to find a good way to display it, there is already the option on the lst page of Sanctum as Beng said, but add some others options is a good idea.

I like the “Type of Yield” category, with the one that dca a token, finance a project, traditionnal lst etc…

Oooo I did know about that! That’s dope.

The one in my proposal is somewhat designed to be like AI where you select your prompts and it gives a ranking of best to worst FOR YOU.

Yup its a different POV like a food recommendation based on preference right? Nice idea. Hope team can implement it, or do you plan on working on simple website for it? I’m sure @n8tr0n can support

I wish I was smart enough to do so. But unfortunately I’ll need the teams help

I would also include a category selection as well.

Ex. Food & Bev, Environmental, Transportation, Education, etc.

I think we need to confirm with the core team (@fplee ) if the necessary meta data is, or will be, available. Having the necessary fetchable data available will make a huge difference when trying to build a tool like this.

The current endpoints don’t include some data that we would be looking to fetch, as you can see here:

  1. https://sanctum-extra-api.ngrok.dev/
  2. https://sanctum-s-api.fly.dev/

Also, AI models require API access to obtain up-to-date and specific data.

The other option would be web scrapping or custom data gathering tools if APIs aren’t available. But this approach can be more complex and legally restrictive.

Update: I don’t know if I mentioned that I would love to help build this

I like this, been asking myself about how projects/LSTs differentiate themselves from each other;

And I guess it would be even more necessary once we have plenty of Creators LSTs out.
