What can we do to supercharge our community?
A few months ago our community was in its infancy. We had just concluded the TGE and everything was new.
Community is the bedrock of Sanctum. Without our users, we have nothing.
I wrote this a few months ago is still relevant:
Some of the best stuff has come out of community just going ahead and doing stuff without getting the go-ahead from the team… I think this is an excellent opportunity to practice community capacity-building:, which I define as the ability for the community to ship stuff separately from the core team (but with one unified goal: grow Sanctum together).
So you guys have our blessing to just do it.
And the community took this and ran with it. We have seen some incredible, amazing work thanks to our community:
- Sanctum Research got off the ground thanks to Proposal Community Grant Pool and Proposal Community Grant Pool - Voting Poll and is now more active than ever.
- We have fortnightly community-led podcasts with hundreds of people tuning in ([Proposal] Podcast - Townhall).
- We have a community-created informational website ([Proposal] Cloudie.so - The Sanctum Hub for Education and Onboarding) and very cute Sanctum emojis that just might take over all of Twitter (The Cloudie Emoji Clan: Boosting Community Engagement).
I am beyond grateful for everyone who stepped up. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Over the past few weeks, I’ve been thinking: what can we do to supercharge this? Our core team is really small, less than 10 people at the moment. But we have many more Sanctum-Aligned community members. My goal is to continue to empower the community, let them do more, so Sanctum can reach more and more and more people without everything hinging on the core team.
Our goals:
- Get community together physically and onboard new users to Sanctum. We want to let the world know that crypto can actually improve our daily lives.
- Let people know about the earnest people Sanctum has. Attract new earnest people. Fix the reputation of our industry.
I want to suggest two things we can do to help. Please let me know what you think.
Cloud Community Corner – a collection of the Sanctum-aligned
First, let’s create an encyclopedia of Sanctum Aligned people, so that wherever you go, you can see and meet a friendly face.
I would like Sanctum-aligned folks to introduce themselves here. I have created a Cloud Community Corner – Database for people to post and introduce themselves: who they are, how they found crypto/Sanctum, where they’re based, what they like, their socials, etc. We should remember that in crypto we are all people, all with our hopes, dreams, and fears, and we should support each other, PPP.
Sanctum Sanctuaries
Second, I would like us to set up “Sanctum Sanctuaries” around the world. These are places for Sanctum-aligned to gather, connect, and help one another. We are therefore encouraging the community from all over the world to hold community events, whether at restaurants, their offices, or even their homes.
Folks like @Bengshark and @Halfa have already run community events, and I would love for more folks to do so.
In the spirit of letting the community just do it, if you run an event that onboards Sanctum users, just do it – no need to ask for permission. Let us know, we will amplify and happily cover all F&B expenses (within reason-- easy on the caviar). Let us know in advance and we may even drop by
