the design is great. should help onboard newbies! supurb!
Strong agree here. There’s not going to be a heap of difference between APYs for most of these (many share validators after all) but the extra rewards is the key factor that separates them.
But therein lies an issue. In the case of bonkSOL rewards aren’t distributed every couple of days as was originally planned. Hop on the bonkSOL channel on the Bonk Discord and that becomes very clear. Bonk have struggled to get transactions to land at times and so rewards have been really inconsistent at times. That’s from a project with deep technical Solana expertise (and deep pockets for the transaction fees). Any other projects that says it’s distributing rewards will find it even harder.
I’d want to see benefits clearly laid out and divided into two sections. Something like (but not exactly)
- sanctum confirmed benefits: everything sanctum can confirm on chain. this would just be yield related
- project promised benefits (but not confirmed): anything sanctum cannot confim. likely as it’s on the project’s side to deliver.
Sidenote: I want to highlight the possible stake to a farm product I detailed here Yield Utility Extension products - research group, distributing token rewards is a very powerful use case but not many projects have the money to send these out themselves, so giving them a way to have users collect (like you see with airdrops through something like Streamflow) is a big unlock.
That’s correct. I just wanted to highlight that APY is not the only benefit of LSTs. For example, BonkSol or xSol reward holders with airdrops, while vSOL provides points to its holders. I wasn’t aware of these benefits initially and only discovered them later through the Sanctum Discord.
I envision the Sanctum website as an LST marketplace where users can easily access all information about each LST and find the one that best suits their needs.
This way, SOL holders will have the ultimate platform for investing their SOL, and LST projects will have an ideal space to promote their offerings to SOL holders.
This also opens up the possibility of leveraging cloud usage in the future.
For example, the platform could allow cloud holders to stake or vote their cloud on the LSTs they prefer (similar to Polkadot’s crowdloan mechanism, but without losing voting power).
This would promote those LSTs in more prominent spots, like Google ads. Having more votes would increase the likelihood of being selected, similar to how blockchain validators are chosen.
Of course, this isn’t directly related to the current topic—just wanted to share the idea! ;D
Been thinking about this a lot, great idea. A graph that has all the LSTs and their Apys allowing us to toggle specific ones to compare apy historically would be an amazing feature.
It would be great if in the back ground of this chart we also had the total amount of JUP in tvl so we can see how that impacts Apys
It’s very clean, I agree that a dark mode would be interesting, social networks, and the visualization of some additional yeld.
This is interesting and reminds me of Kamino’s dex badge, like Meteora. It also informs users that this pool earns Meteora points. Users might be able to filter LSTs based on their target platform.
Making this automatic and 100% accurate might be technically challenging. In the early stages, the easiest way to implement it could be to allow LST projects to update this information themselves.
Hi CW,
Thank you for all the effort your team has put into this proposal! As a newbie who’s just getting started with Liquid Staking Tokens (LST), I’ve found myself a bit confused while trying to understand these concepts, haha. That being said, I’ve come up with a few ideas that I think could help more beginners like me get up to speed quickly. Apologies if I veer off-topic, as English is not my native language!
Animated Explainer + Gamified Learning Experience
I suggest using animated explainer videos, which could really help beginners grasp the core concepts of LST. Visual representations can show us how LSTs work, how staking happens, and how to engage with DeFi. This approach is particularly beginner-friendly, as it lowers the learning curve and makes the concepts easier to digest.
However, I think we could take this a step further. If we incorporate a gamified learning experience, the process would become more interactive and enjoyable. For example, users could simulate staking their first crypto assets and receive LST tokens, then perform actual actions like unlocking rewards or completing tasks. This wouldn’t just be reading materials but would allow for hands-on learning, which would significantly improve understanding.
Extra Incentives
On top of that, I believe adding some incentives for completing the learning experience would make the process more engaging. For instance, users could earn a small amount of Cloud tokens upon completion, or perhaps receive a special “LST Newbie Task Completer” role on Discord. These rewards could encourage more people to participate and foster a sense of achievement, while also enhancing community interaction.
Help Newcomers Onboard
This design is not only fun but could also guide more newcomers to seamlessly onboard into the world of LSTs. By offering rewards and recognitions, the learning process becomes faster, more rewarding, and encourages active participation within the community. This, in turn, can help create a more vibrant and interactive LST ecosystem.
I hope these suggestions can add a bit of fun and engagement to your design! Looking forward to hearing your feedback.
Thank you!
I like it! Maybe some URLs (links) to the respective LST creator?
A 1 lstSOL > how much SOL? (instead of just dollars).
Also: a basic FAQ on LST?
Keep up the good work, you guys are one of the most promising teams building on Solana at the moment imo ![]()
Looks pretty clean! Can’t think of any improvements for now but if I do it will be posted as another comment.
Will you add onramp before s2?
Yes it will contain these info, it’s been suggested a few times on here. So we’ll add it in!
I love this, and it’s something that we’ve been thinking about a lot. It’s on the roadmap, I’ll share more details once we start tackling this education vertical!
This is a great suggestion. Will think of how we can show this in future iterations.
Nice.
Thank you
Have a good day
more stats on the lst will be cool
Think it looks good. Very simple and slick design and easy to navigate around.
Not personal but project’s
Lots of valuable opinions and suggestions have been given already, implementing all/most of them without negatively affecting functionality becomes a concern, so all changes should be done gradually and tested by community first.
@cwchan is the team planning on this tool to include teaching noobs about LSTs? I think we should coordinate so that we don’t double up on cloudie.so. Let me know! ![]()
Love the design.
I was thinking maybe we should have a sanctum research page link to each sanctum LST where users can give feedback on the LSTs and have a safe space for discourse.
