This is a new and separate proposal from CLOUD-004 (“Wonder”). That proposal failed, largely due to concerns around compliance, unclear value capture, and resource allocation.
Since then, two major shifts have created a new opportunity for Sanctum:
The release of Solana Mobile devices (Saga, Seeker) with their own dApp store.
The ability for projects to leverage the Seed Vault, which securely manages seed phrases at the device layer.
These changes allow Sanctum to revisit the mobile opportunity with a sharper focus: increasing visibility and driving revenue growth.
Core Proposal
Sanctum should build a dedicated mobile dApp for Solana Mobile devices.
The focus is not on seedless UX or replacing wallets, but on:
Visibility – Being present in the Solana dApp store alongside Jupiter, Drift, and Marinade ensures discoverability by the growing mobile-native user base.
Revenue – The dApp provides clear monetization opportunities through swap commissions, AUM fees, fiat on/off ramps, and yield tracking integrations.
Feasibility – With security handled by the Seed Vault, Sanctum can concentrate on product features and monetization rather than compliance-heavy infrastructure.
This is a new proposal that reflects current conditions and addresses the shortcomings of CLOUD-004.
Addressing Previous Concerns
Resource Intensity (andrewsaul): This proposal does not define execution scope. The request is for the team to propose a feasible path forward, ensuring resources are aligned with impact.
Clarity of Deliverables (yyigit.sol): This is not meant to displace existing commitments like Cloud Card or Wonderland. Instead, the expectation is that new revenues from the dApp can accelerate delivery of these products.
Compliance (Cryptokb, n8tr0n): App Store hurdles no longer apply in the Solana Mobile ecosystem. Fiat features can still be rolled out carefully as needed.
Value Capture (Cryptokb): Unlike the previous proposal, monetization levers are explicit and revenue-focused.
Infrastructure Focus (amensch): Sanctum remains infrastructure-first. The dApp is a distribution channel for the infrastructure already integrated into Solana.
Request to the Team
This proposal does not prescribe exact steps or phases. Instead, it asks the Sanctum team to define how they envision the path forward, balancing:
Revenue generation
Visibility on Solana Mobile
Feasibility within current resources
Conclusion
CLOUD-004 failed because the value vs cost was not clear enough to community members. Today, with Solana Mobile’s ecosystem maturing, the value proposition is straightforward:
Security is offloaded to Solana’s Seed Vault.
Compliance is bypassed with the Solana dApp store.
Revenue and visibility are the core drivers.
This is not a rehash of Wonder. This is a new proposal, grounded in today’s Solana Mobile ecosystem, requesting the team to define how Sanctum can seize this opportunity.
At that time, I was thinking that cloud could put our effort into something else more critical that an app. Other than phantom and metamask, the rest of my other crypto apps were CEXes. Most of others were download and delete like magiceden, and jupiter. So, I don’t see any value of mobile apps. If there’s a clear proposition and ROI, I’m sure people are more willing to accept. However, my experience are not as good and how can we stand out from all the other apps.
I suggest you go and explore some of the various dAPPs in the Solana ecosystem. There are several high quality projects that you can only really appreciate by taking a look yourself. There is no way to do them justice in this thread.
That said, these dAPPs are already developed to work in browsers like chrome, phantom, metamask, etc… They have just added support for the Solana mobile wallet and gotten their app in the official dAPP store.
For example, whenever you go and trade LSTs on JUP through phantom, or some other wallet, you are using their dAPP. That same dAPP is available in the Solana dAPP store and supports the Solana mobile wallet.
Sanctum adding support for the Solana mobile wallet and getting listed in the Solana dAPP store should be a no brainer right? This is THE official Solana mobile device. It should be CENTRAL to the ecosystem eventually.
Sanctum makes money on a variety of fees. Having Sanctum support the Solana mobile wallet would all for easier access to staking for Solana mobile users. That would translate into ROI via fees. I think it’s pretty straightforward.
If its just a web wrapper then that should be simple to roll out, it’s essentially just marketing.
I have had a Saga for a while now.
I’ve never found the Solana app store very inspiring.
Some of the games are okay (Honeyland is decent and the new DeFi Land mobile app is good) but largely it’s pretty uninspiring stuff. The Bonk and Chonky apps are representative of the average app on there unfortunately.
The addressable user base is very small. There were a number of users who bought multiple sagas and/or bought the device just for the airdrops and haven’t picked them up since.
I expect a similar dynamic to happen with the Seeker so of the 100K so “users” i expect many less than half to be active. But even 10K active, real, users is big in crypto so it’s not nothing.
You are correct. It’s just a wrapper for the web dAPP and adding support for the Solana mobile wallet.
The Solana dAPP store is just a simple place where the common folk can go and interact with dAPPs in a more straightforward and intuitive way than Phantom wallet.
I can’t tell you how many ppl I know are still holding on CEXs to avoid the hassles of learning to deal with wallets and their browsers. I’m sure the dAPP store will get better as the ecosystem grows.
But this proposal is as you mentioned. It shouldn’t be too hard to achieve since it’s not creating a new app from the ground up for Android/Apple stores. Just wrapping the web version and adding support for the Solana mobile wallet.
The only dAPPs I use on Solana mobile rn is Drift and Jupiter myself. There isn’t much in the ecosystem yet.
I mentioned earlier, there are a lot of people that will not make the move to phantom, metamask, etc… because they don’t want to deal with the complexity of the wallet/browser system.
This is a barrier of entry that the Solana mobile device tackles directly. by managing the seed phrase in an easy, familiar, and straightforward way (just 2FA with the fingerprint).
There isn’t a need to change the web dAPP beyond support for the Solana mobile wallet itself. It’s a really low effort task that reduces the barrier of entry of normies into the Solana ecosystem and Sanctum specifically.
I don’t interact with dAPPs through phantom anymore. Even as a seasoned user on Solana, I find the convenience of the Solana mobile wallet to be far superior to phantom/metamask.
I feel that the beyond the barrier of entry to decentralized from CEX apps, the first apps that people generally download is metamask or phantom. I understand that you feel that solana mobile wallet’s experience is much better than phantom/metamask but as you mentioned earlier people are less prone to change, they would stick to what they have.
Anyways we have the same point → people don’t want new dapps
Although making an app with existing web based app, which you also put, does not require much effort. We can see what’s up next for sanctum
I was of the understanding that wonder app was going be integrated with sanctum card. As it seems sanctum card may never happen, there is less reason for a dedicated app
shows you how much money you’ve made from your yield-bearing assets (SOL, JUP, CLOUD, USDC)
at least this use case should be addressed by sanctum portfolio
Please read the proposal. It is not for an app in the Android/Apple app stores.
What is being proposed is adapting the web dAPP (already used by everyone in the community) for the Solana mobile wallet and, if possible, list it in the Solana dAPP store.
It would have to be a significant upgrade to the current Sanctum mobile app which is available through the wallet browsers (e.g., Solflare, Backpack, Phantom). That Sanctum app is a fairly good experience and offers all the current functionality of the desktop web app.
Whatever this was would have to be either/or
a significant upgrade to the existing mobile experience
offer features only possible through a dedicated mobile experience
Thank you. I realize this proposal is slightly different than the previous one for a dedicated app.
I own a seeker, and realize that there are few apps in the solana dapp store. I also realize that most of the apps in the dapp store have little reason to exist, and unless there is reason for a dedicated mobile app, there is no reason to add yet another app of questionable merit to the solana dapp store.
If you have a seeker, then you should understand that the mobile dAPPs there are the SAME as what you would use on a web browser like chrome. In fact, these dAPPs from the Solana mobile store run on chrome.
Please try and understand. There is NO NEW dAPP being created. it is simply adding support of the Solana mobile wallet to the current platform on sanctum.
Maybe applying to list sanctum in the Solana dAPP store is the only bit of additional work.
But please UNDERSTAND there would be no new app being created. It is literally the same thing you open on the web browser.
Yes Andrew you are correct. The current web dAPP is GREAT.
dAPPs on the Solana mobile device run on CHROME. They’re practically just links to the website. The dAPPs open up in full screen mode to make it look like a complete app, by they are in fact the same thing you would get by opening up Chrome and going to the website.
They keep the same web app. Add support for support for Solana mobile wallet.
No JUP mobile in the Solana dAPP store seems to be a full on app separate from the web dapp.
Drift in the Solana dAPP store does however just run on chrome. It is a very simple implementation that uses the already built web dapp, different from what Jup seems to have done. This is the kind of thing I’m advocating for, not what Jup did.
